Background
For this project our job was to create a device or process in which we turn undrinkable water into drinkable water. We then had to figure out the chemistry of how this process worked and how it made the water drinkable. The goal was to make a relatively simple device that could theoretically be sold and used in poorer countries in which drinking water isn't as available.
Our project
For our project we decided to make a very simple water desalination machine. Our project works by evaporating water in a pot with tinfoil over the top. The water then condenses and drips into a cup that's on the inside. This process can be improved by putting ice on top of the tinfoil which cools down the evaporating water and condenses it faster
Concepts
Water Desalination: The process in where you remove the salt from salt water, making it safe to drink.
Evaporation: Evaporation is a type of vaporization that occurs on the surface of a liquid as it changes into the gas phase.
Saturation: The state or process that occurs when no more of something can be absorbed, combined with, or added.

Reflection
This project was a pretty hard one for our group because we had a hard time focusing and we couldn't quite get a working design for a while however, in the end we ended up coming up with our design. The difficulty with this project in particular could have been due to use not understanding how we were going to do it, and a group composition which led to quite a lot of off task work and not a lot of productivity. However that wasn't a complete downside as this project was very fun for that reason. Another downside was that this wasn't my best work because there was a lot of side distractions and other things going on in the group which led to this being a pretty poor performance.
